Thousands joined the club to celebrate its Family Reunion Weekend of events August 25th – 26th. The Mathews-Dickey Boys’ & Girls’ Club celebrated another year of serving the St. Louis community with an all-star comedy, musical and sponsorship line-up for the grand weekend. Corporate sponsors and select VIP guest also had the opportunity of being photographed with the celebrities during the weekend. Guests of both events enjoyed a complimentary photo booth to capture their memories at the reunion. Stay tuned for albums from these events.
Saturday’s concert at the Fabulous Fox Theatre brought attendees the double-bill of Brian McKnight & Ginuwine for the Martin L. Mathews Awards & Benefit Concert and an awards ceremony recognizing twelve community leaders and youth. The Centene-sponsored event garnered media coverage came from many angles, including this music review by the Post Dispatch staff. The publication also interviewed headlining comedian DC Young Fly prior to Friday’s event. Sponsored by Stifel and in partnership with Mo Betta Sports, Hoopin’ & Hollerin’ featured All-Star games and a comedy segment by MTV Wild N Out’s DC Young Fly, Rip Michaels and Hitman Holla. The weekend generated total pledges of $336,000 to support a vital cause – Mathews-Dickey’s strategic efforts to Build Together, Win Together by creating community alliances to close the achievement gap among young people through scholar-athletics.
