Mathews-Dickey Celebrates Scholar-Athletes
AT 58TH ANNIVERSARY, YOUTH AND COMMUNITY AWARDS SHOWCASE

As a cornerstone of the community, the Mathews-Dickey Boys’ & Girls’ Club makes sure to take time out each year to recognize its supporters, mentors, members and community. In a continued tradition of recognizing high-achieving scholar-athletes and community volunteers, the organization will celebrate its 58th anniversary with a trophy showcase at 1 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 18 at its facility at 4245 N. Kingshighway Blvd. Over 300 young people will receive trophies and rings, sponsored by Emerson, for baseball, basketball, cheerleading, football, MVPs, career and other outstanding achievements. The Club will also bestow awards upon civic leaders, volunteers, parents and alumni who’ve contributed to their success.
Welcome remarks will be presented by Co-Founder and Emeritus President Martin Luther Mathews along with President & CEO Wendell Covington, Jr. Chief Operating Officer Tom Sullivan and Director of Operations Leroy Witherspoon emcee the festivities.
