Sheer Elegance NO. 28 Fashion Show & Fundraiser | Style Safari
Embark upon a “Style Safari”at the Mathews-Dickey Sheer Elegance No.28 runway fashion show. The fund-raiser, which supports young women’s programs and spotlights 40 girls, takes place at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 17 at a new location, the Regency Room at the Hyatt Regency by the Arch, 315 Chestnut St., St. Louis, MO 63102. the program begins with simultaneous awards and general recepetion s at 11 a.m., followed by the runway show at noon.

Style Safari offers attendees an adventure beyond their wildest dreams featuring “Project Runway” alumni, celebrity escorts, exciting door prizes, hors d’oeuvres during reception (safari themed ones in VIP), awesome entertainment and a chance for our young women to roar. We’re excited to have 2016 Miss Missouri USA, Bayleigh Dayton (the first African-American to hold the crown), join us as a celebrity escort this year! Community leaders, ranging from the mayor and county executive to the heads of cultural institutions, media personalities and CEOs, also serve as celebrity escorts. There’ll be chances to win one of the many VIP door prizes announced by KTVI’s Bonita Cornute. Also emceeing the event will be Debra Bass, fashion editor at St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Tammie Holland, host on 100.3 FM The Beat.
The Entertainment & Fashions
Sheer Elegance is bringing in three very special guests for a hot, live and loud “Style Safari”:
- HOT: The Dancing Fire dance with and even EAT fire! They’ll be joined by Nicole Iris for a fiery rendition of her original song “Kings & Queens”.
- LIVE: Eagle Eye Alpaca & Llama Sanctuary is bringing their traveling petting zoo for the kids to enjoy!
- LOUD: Afriky Lolo West African Dance & Drums group will perform
The fashions are headlined by “Project Runway” alumni Michael Drummond, Qristyl Frazier, Laura Kathleen, Shan Keith and AJ Thouvenot. They are joined by Caleres, Savvi Formal Wear, Trixxi, The Vault Luxury Resale, men’s wear designer Paulie Gibson and young designer’s showcase participant Sydney Smotherson. Headlining the crew of models is international sensation and St. Louis native Jennie Runk.
The event is an artistic and educational journey for 20 high-school aged young women and 20 elementary-to-middle school girls. The teen honorees are recognized for their academic, extra-curricular and community service achievements and learn a dance routine over eight weeks that they perform at the show. The younger girls, affectionately known as the Littles, receive similar training to perform their own routine at the show. Nominations for honorees and littles for 2017 are being accepted now. Heading the charge to raise $140,000 for the drive is a distinguished team of 60 women, led by:

Kasey Bergh, Purina’s community affairs director, Caleres, and Susan Stith, an Express Scripts vice president, will be honored with the Sheer Elegance Award during the American Family Insurance | Centene Nile Reception at 11 a.m. and at the top of the show at noon.
