Attend Mathews-Dickey Free Winter Family Resources Day Dec. 3 | Open to St. Louis City & County Residents
With the winter chill lurking around the corner, the Mathews-Dickey Boys’ & Girls’ Club is giving low-income families an opportunity to apply for financial assistance for their Laclede Gas and Ameren energy bills, weatherization help (through the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis), and a chance to learn about other beneficial resources at its Fall Family Resource Day. On site that afternoon will also be a Chili Cook-off! The event is free to attend (*cook-off fees apply) and open to the public from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Dec. 3 in lower gym at Mathews-Dickey, 4245 N. Additionally, the Urban League will provide resources on their weatherization and Head Start programs, alongside booths by Aetna, Better Family Life, Provident Counseling, St. Louis Fire Department free smoke detector program and others. There also will be special presentations on energy-saving and safety topics.
Clients seeking energy help must have an Ameren Electric or Laclede Gas Service account in his/her name and bring the following documents to ensure a complete application:
• Picture Identification (State ID or Drivers License)
• Proof of Income (all sources that apply, i.e., check stubs (30 days), child support, TANF and Food Stamp, SSI or SSDI Award Letters)
• Social Security Cards for ALL household members
• Proof of Residence
• Utility Bill
Applications are subject to an approval process; and candidates should allow 30-45 days for processing. There will be a call made to let applicants know if and when a pledge is being made.
