Leadership & Professional Development Advocate of the Year: Jennifer Irvin
School-Community Health Coordinator | BJC HealthCare
Assists youth in attaining employment and helped prepare hundreds of young women for careers in the medical field
Irvin’s extensive knowledge in the healthcare field has made her an excellent resource to the community. Jennifer Irvin is a 20-year employee of BJC HealthCare and volunteer with Mathews-Dickey for just about as long. Irvin has taught the Paging Doctor You seminar for the Mathews-Dickey The Sky Is The Limit and extended a hand in preparing many youth for medical careers. In addition to preparation for these careers, she also assisted many of them by helping them attain employment at BJC and it’s 16 hospitals.
Prior to joining the BJC School Outreach and Youth Development team Irvin worked for Jewish Hospital College of Nursing and Allied Health as a recruitment and admissions representative. During her five years at the BJC HealthCare member school she established a pre-entry nursing school pipeline program to better prepare potential candidates for professional programs. After joining the BJC School Outreach and Youth Development team she began to focus 100 percent of her time developing specialized career exploration programs. She developed and maintains the company’s Job Shadow Policy and Procedure for High School Students.
Irvin holds a Masters in Health Science and Administration. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband and three college-aged children.
She has shown so many youth that with hard work, the sky really is the limit and they’ll go far beyond anything they could have imagined.
