St. Louisan and Mathews-Dickey RBI alumni DJ Stewart was scheduled to travel with the team to MN. That is up until July 7, 2017 when the 39th round of the MLB Draft made Stewart a new member of the Philadelphia Phillies and the only area high-school athlete selected into Major League Baseball this year.

The tournament is the culmination of the 2017 season of Reviving Baseball in the Inner-City (RBI) Program which is operated by Mathews-Dickey is through the St. Louis Cardinals official non-profit arm, Cardinals Care. The teams that take the win in this tournament will advance to the World Series in Cincinnati, OH from July 31st to August 5th , 2017
Selection to participate in this tournament is a great honor, received for only a select number of individuals in the entire country. This year – with the guidance of staff, team managers and coaches – Mathews-Dickey will travel with three teams, 2 boys baseball teams – 15U and 18U and 1 girls softball team – 18U.
Although the trip is athletic in scope, our youth will enjoy a trip of fun filled adventures, culturally enriching tours of the cities they are traveling to and even participate in a community service project.
